How to prevent hair loss

Hair loss is very common; you or someone you know may be suffering from it, or you may be suffering from it yourself. According to one study, over 80% of men experience hair loss, while the percentage for women is around 50%. Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss. It is most commonly caused by heredity, but there are several other causes, including stress, cancer treatment, hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, and physical trauma. Nowadays, there are several treatments available on the market, such as over-the-counter medications and laser therapy. This article will educate you on the causes and treatment options for hair loss because it can happen to anyone and it is always a good idea to be informed.

Hair loss can be as severe as baldness or as mild as thinning hair, which is also considered hair loss. You notice hair loss when you see your hair brush or hair collected in your bathroom drain. It is normal for you to lose 50 to 100 hair strands per day.

The main causes of hair loss are as follows-

  1. Heredity- This is the most common cause of hair loss all over the world. In this case, you have received genes that cause your hair follicle to shrink and eventually stop growing hair. The early sign in men is usually a receding hairline, while in women it is hair thinning. Androgenic alopecia is the medical term for this condition.
  2. Stressful events-When the human body is put through a stressful situation, it tends to react in a certain way; many people experience pimples and breakouts, high bp, muscle tension, and headaches, and many people notice hair fall. The event could be a loved one’s death, a traumatic incident, an accident, childbirth, exam season, or sleepless nights due to work problems.
  3. Cancer- When a person with cancer begins chemotherapy, radiation, or any other treatment, they gradually lose their hair.
  4. Old age-As people get older, they begin to lose the colour of their hair as well as their hair. The hairline appears to be receding. Many people regard hair loss as a sign of ageing.
  5. Overuse of products- People nowadays enjoy styling their hair for a variety of reasons, including no reason at all. Blowdries, hair straightening, and other heat styling products are not good for the hair, and excessive use can cause significant damage. After a while, people begin to experience hair loss. Avoid using shampoos that contain too many chemicals, instead opt for gentle shampoos that are good for the scalp.
  6. Deficiencies-Hair loss can also be caused by vitamin D, zinc, and iron deficiencies. To have long and silky hair, it is critical to consume vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables.

Treatments for Hair Loss

  1. Home remedies- People all over the world use onion juice, Aloe Vera, Fengreuk hair masks, and mixing Vitamin E tablets into their weekly oil routine to treat hair loss and promote hair growth. These are natural and thus beneficial to the scalp’s health.
  2. Hair transplant therapy- This is performed by a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon and does not necessitate hospitalisation. Hair from your head is taken and transplanted to the bald spots during this procedure. Given that it can be painful, you will be given a sedative cream. However, it is important to remember that if you have inherited hair loss, the transplant will only postpone the loss.
  3. Over-the-counter medicines- Minoxidil is a topical prescription for hair loss that is available as a shampoo, foam, or liquid. It reduces hair thinning and increases hair growth stimulation. Women should take this 2.5-5g tablet once a day, while men should take it twice. Some other oral options available are- Carospir, Aldactone, and Avodart.
  4. Platelet Rich Plasma- Your blood is drawn and reintroduced into your scalp. Since platelets are abundant in blood, they promote hair growth.

Hair loss is normal, and it is acceptable to have it. When you have hair loss, there is nothing to be ashamed of. All you have to do is accept it and work to solve the problem. You are stunning with or without hair.
